Where it all began
Since the launch of Who'sTheRef.com in 2009 by match official Mark Brown, the platform has transformed from a simple referee appointments website for a local society to a complete match officials administration system used by National Governing Bodies with 8,000+ officials.

The Team
Mark Brown
Managing Director & Creator
Mark has been involved with sports officiating for over 26 years, firstly as a referee and more latterly as a referee coach and mentor. He currently manages the team of referee coaches and assessors in his local association and naturally uses WhosTheRef.com to appoint them so has end user experience of the service too!
Roy McCombe
Support Manager
Roy joined our team in April 2015 as a consultant to the business. Roy had recently retired as Head of Match Officials at Scottish Rugby. With over 25 years’ experience as an official and 10 years as Head of the SRU officials he brings a wealth of knowledge to the business and is responsible for ensuring our customers receive the highest possible level of support.
Fraser Brown
Programmer
Fraser has worked for the business since graduating with a Masters degree in Mathematics. His passion outside of work is archery. He is a member of several clubs in Norfolk, volunteers as a committee member for his local club, and helps to organise the annual BeiterHitMiss Tournament that is hosted in England each year.
Harry Dennison
Full Stack Developer
Harry and Connor joined our coding team in December 2020. Harry’s main interests are philosophy, mathematics, and learning about European History. At university he gained skills and knowledge around Software Development, Mathematics, and Logic.
Harry will be working on extending our platform's range of functionality, and, improving the responsiveness of the mobile version.
Connor White
Full-Stack Developer
Connor and Harry joined our coding team in December 2020. Connor enjoys playing table tennis, and cooking, along with interests in economics and politics. He has also previous studied business administration.
Connor works on our range of APIs for integrating with external systems and manages the security of our platform and personal data.
Sara Mauriello
Translations Manager
Sara has been working with Officials-For-Sports.com ltd for 2 years, working on translating the website and database into French, German and Italian. Many more languages are currently being worked on and this remains a key focus of the company as we expand ever further around the globe into new markets.
Les Clemenson
Non-Executive Director
Les was formerly Head of Global Operations for Reuters and has been instrumental in implementing WhosTheUmpire.com across English cricket. Les' knowledge of Cricket is an invaluable asset to the company, allowing us to understand our customer's culture and needs to ensure the system meets their requirements.
Dr. Tim Miller
Non-Executive Director
Tim is former Group HR Director at Standard Chartered back and currently sits on the RFU Council representing all the nation's referees. Prior to this, Tim was secretary of London Society of Rugby Union Referees, the largest officiating society in the world. Tim's knowledge of management and leadership is invaluable across many aspects of the company.
Tracey Aldous
Business Consultant
Tracey has a wealth of business experience and is always available to consult with our team on strategy and general business management. Tracey maintains an active interest in Officials-For-Sport.com Ltd, regularly attending board meetings. Tracey provides a differing viewpoint, from outside the team, on how the company can develop further.
Tom Haczewski
UX Consultant
As a user experience researcher, designer and developer with over 12 years' experience both client- and agency-side, Tom started The User Story with the goal of helping businesses harness the potential of user centred design. Based in Norwich, Tom and his team are always available to provide advice and guidance on improving the user experience.
Angela Simpson
Administration Assistant
Angela was Mark's PA for over ten years to ensure all administrative aspects his businesses worked smoothly. Angela retired when the business relocated premises in 2017 but has recently rejoined the team in order to support Mark and the team in ensuring that the administration of the company is efficient as the company continues to expand.
David Jacobs
Integrations Consultant
Co-founder of CLARIFi media and former Head of Global Networks at Reuters, David now specialises in providing apps for live events such as festivals and expos. His expertise and understanding of our needs has led to the development of an app we are all very proud of. David will continue to advise the company in the future enhancements to our app.
